Ink waste is a problem.
Ink pad is a sponge specifically built for the printer, which is placed inside a maintenance box.
This box resides in the back of the unit and can be opened with the help of a screwdriver.
You do have to buy a new maintenance box, though.

To be precise, it resets its ink pad counter.
It is just a temporary measure so that you’re free to keep printing for now.
