Well, draining our Android battery faster is not an uncommon thing.
We play games and uses lots of apps that can consume lots of batteries.
Well, Facebook Messenger consumes lots of battery for sure.

Facebook messenger used 15% of my battery today.
I haven’t opened it at all this week.
Only Android phone users are affected by the bug.
issue was isolated and fixed server side.
If you restart Messenger the problem should be gone now.
Had to delete them.
hehe the@facebookapps turned my phone into a Samsung Note 7.
Phone was burning up.
If it doesnt fix then try updating your app from Google Play Store.
